Toronto Flameworking offers lessons ranging from basic introductory classes with no previous experience required to intermediate & advanced workshops covering more difficult techniques

Our Introductory Solid lesson provides students with the basic knowledge & understanding needed to further practice the craft of making glass art. Lessons following the initial introduction will give students the opportunity to decide the techniques they are interested in pursuing most. This way the students can learn exactly what they are interested in doing in a one-on-one or group setting. From introductory to advanced techniques we are able to help glass artists on their path to beautiful creations.

Private 1-on-1 Lesson - $60 / hour

Private Lesson for 2 - $50 / hour per person

 Intro to Solid Borosilicate Flameworking

The full length introductory class is designed to give students a detailed understanding of basic procedures and fundamentals needed to work with molten glass. The students get an opportunity to watch the process before making a hands-on attempt while closely supervised by an experienced instructor.

Introduction To Hollow Flameworking 

This beginner level lesson will include the fundamentals of working with hollow borosilicate glass on a small scale in order to get comfortable with heating and shaping concepts.

  • Opening Holes on tubes
  • Connecting two pieces of clear tubing
  • Preparing Various Hollow Shapes
  • Even heat and rotation of hollow glass

Stringer Control 

A Beginner class that is designed to help students get comfortable with the application of glass "stringers" into a finished piece of art. In this lesson we will be making a marble and a pendant both using very thin "stringers" in the process. One of which we will use to practice a design using stringers and the other will be writing text onto glass.

 Colour Hollow Work

Technique Specific Lessons

There are a wide variety of design and shaping techniques that are possible in borosilicate glass work. After covering the basics we are able to provide lessons based on more specific items and concepts that you may have in mind. These techniques have a wide range of difficulty ranging from beginner to advanced so an understanding of the core fundamentals is required.
